Solar may be in our name, but our mission is clean energy. This is why we offer design and installation of hydrogen fuel cells for residential homes and businesses. For customers who are not optimal candidates for solar, fuel cells may be your alternative energy solution.
What is a Fuel Cell?
Fuel cells are relatively small, self-contained energy conversion devices that can convert the power of hydrogen to electricity. Generally speaking, a fuel cell can power any device that can be powered by a battery. Fuel cells provide very clean energy: the only byproducts are water and heat, which may be repurposed to heat your home. This is known as micro combined heat and power, or microCHP.
How Fuel Cells Work to Power Your Home
Much like solar energy, fuel cells can be tied to your home’s electrical grid to supply power for your family. The heat produced as a by-product can be routed to supply hot water for your home. Additionally, fuel cells can be used as a backup power source in the event of outages, much like a battery backup system.
Fuel Cell Tax Credits
Federal and State tax credits may be available to help offset the cost of setting up a hydrogen fuel cell system in your home or business. Our team at Solar Dad and Sons can help you navigate the application process and provide all of the documentation you will need to secure tax credits, rebates and financing for fuel cell installation.
